The mission of Tuscaloosa Academy High School is to provide a college preparatory education in a supportive environment of intellectual freedom, to cultivate a love of learning, and to maximize each student's potential for academic achievement, character development, and readiness for life in a global environment.

Curriculum

At TA, students immerse themselves in a traditional and comprehensive academic program.

  • AP courses in the core subjects and the arts and technology.

  • Wide selection of electives to choose from including Psychology, Digital Photography, Theater, and Game Design.

  • Integration of technology in each classroom that allows for cooperative learning and a one to one learning environment.

  • German, French, and Spanish are the core languages offered to students.

Graduation Requirements

  • Community Service

    • 80 total hours (spread out over grades 9-12)

  • English

    • Four Credits

  • History & Social Science

    • Four credits, including Government & Economics

  • Mathematics

    • Four credits in grades 9- 12, including Algebra II

  • Science

    • Four credits, including Biology & Chemistry

  • World Language

    • At least two credits earned in grades 9-12 in the same language

  • Additional Courses required for full or half credit

    • Physical Education

    • Fine Arts

    • Technology

    • Public Speaking

    • Health and Wellness
